One of the best Rich. Thought I was going to have a heart attack listening to these tales. A scary combination of tremendous fear and bravery. I learned more about metallurgy than I ever imagined. Dumb question but how does one remove the element of sulpher from the mix or is it just inherent and must be managed through the addition of manganese? Also, did ship builders at the time not fully understand the kinds of steel necessary to create a safe and sturdy weld? That one really threw me.

My interest in Maritime History started at an early age, having served in the US Navy & visited many historical vessels and sites, I keep up my amateur historian interests with varied books, podcasts & shows. Shipwrecks and Seadogs ranks very high. It’s not just the fascinating storytelling or thorough history of the topic but the human interest stories. Whether its the Edmund Fitzgerald, or the Franklin Expedition, to name but two, each story has genuine heart and feeling for the tragedies of Sea Life! A 110% Must Listen Show!

What a great podcast on nautical history! Rich does a very good job researching the material and bringing it all together in an informative and entertaining format.

There’s history, there’s lore, there’s research told by someone you can listen to without wanting to put a screwdriver in your ear! Lol I bet he spells everything correctly as well! Love this. I grew up on Lake Erie and our baby was the Niagara. I’m sure he’s working on that fascinating story since I’ve been singing her praises! Thanx for making my job as a trucker a little easier! These really help pass the time and I love ships!

I grew up on Lake Erie. I never expected to go out of my city to places where people never heard of the Niagara, the ship that won the battle of Lake Erie. These ships have been in my blood for so long! I love sea tales, ships of all kinds, stories and history of ships and sailors! Rich is so easy to listen to. He’s very well spoken and makes my work as a truck driver easier and more enjoyable! You can only listen to music for so long. Listening to podcasts, and subsequently, finding a host you like, is such a blessing! Thank you for all the work you do, podcasters are underrated!

Many fascinating and well told historical reconstructions, worth browsing the many many episodes

Well researched! I find the stories and the background of all these vessels just incredible. Rich has such an honest, straight forward way of presenting the tales. I always learn something new. The human relationship to the sea is one fraught with passion and doom! This podcast is a delightful adventure!

Unsure of what to expect… I’ve been blown away. Research for the episodes are superb. perfect “podcaster voice” that’s smooth and easy to listen to. The story telling is vivid and detailed. I am always looking forward to a new episode.. especially the longer ones covering old historical wrecks/disasters.

I just discovered Shipwrecks and Sea Dogs. It's both entertaining and informative. Looking forward to future episodes.

Rich presents fascinating and well-researched historical maritime events. He gives in-depth background while keeping a good flow. He has brought on a diverse group of well-informed guests from all over the world. He has shown sensitivity during episodes where frightening and tragic experiences have affected some of his guests. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who loves sea stories!

I was kind of hoping to find something like this show and when I went looking… I found exactly what I was hoping for. Rich does a great job retelling stories with intrigue, gravity, and historical accuracy. It’s lead to me doing a lot of reading on my own about events I never even knew about. Would definitely recommend!

Even if you don’t like ships the history that is on this podcast is great! If you kinda like boats or more then you will be in heaven. Every time I see it show up in my up next my heart gets happy.

Very well researched. Fascinating content. He covers many stories that haven’t been well covered before. Even stories I’m familiar with I end up learning something new.
